Is Your Child Ready for Kindergarten?

If your child turns 5 before December 31st, please join us for a Kindergarten Information Evening on

Thursday, January 28th, 2010

7:00 pm at NJ Macpherson School.

You will learn about NJ’s regular and Montessori kindergarten programs, meet the kindergarten teachers and other staff, visit the kindergarten classrooms, and tour the school.

NJ is a great place for your child to start their school career!

- There are two kindergarten options – the regular program or the Primary Montessori program.

- Class sizes are small, especially in kindergarten.

- NJ is a small, K-5 school with a friendly family-like atmosphere.

- NJ practices Effective Behaviour Supports – a school-wide behaviour program that uses proactive teaching strategies and celebrations to reinforce positive behaviour expectations.

- Kindergarten students are gradually introduced to the playground during separate, kindergarten-only recesses. Playground expectations are directly taught to students.

- NJ has a successful Fine Arts program that includes the visual arts, drama, dance, and music. Students have many opportunities to perform, create, and learn about the Arts.

- Academic achievement is a priority. Literacy is always a focus with daily reading and writing in every classroom for every child.

- Our teachers are committed to  best-practice teaching and professional learning.

Come and see what a great learning environment NJ offers. Make an appointment for a tour, classroom visit, or a meeting about your child. Please inform us of any special needs or supports that may be required for your child’s success.

We are now accepting kindergarten registrations. To register, please visit the school office and complete a registration form. Bring along your child’s health care card and birth certificate. Or, get the process started by pre-registering at http://www.yk1.nt.ca/registration/index.html.
